Week 13 Contact

I got to go to the children's museum this week.  This is me learning about how  I can make water move in different directions by putting up walls.

I got to build gingerbread houses for art this week and we also made donut snowmen for art.

We also started reading a christmas carol.  I love Christmas time!!!

History where we live

It is a lot of fun to learn about events that happened in places where we've been. The Nez Perce lived in Southeastern Washington, Central Idaho, and Northeastern Oregon. I guess they had some amazing horse herds. I read one of their stories about a monster that Coyote kills. He cuts the heart out. I almost drove off the road when I saw the Heart of the Monster down in Idaho when I was on a trip. It's a small hill that I had only seen pictures of before.

I'm glad to hear that you're doing so well with your math. I bet you'll learn those multiplication facts really fast once you get to them!

That mail car with the skies reminds me of the Christmas television show Santa Claus is Comin' to Town. Have you seen that? The narrator is a mailman who has a car like that one. I never knew they were for real!

Week 11 Contact

I don't have any pictures this week, but I am still reading Kaya from the American Girl Books.  I just finished book 2 called Kaya's escape.  I really liked this one.  I was glad that Kaya got away, but am sad that they weren't able to rescue Speaking Rain.  In my native american unit for history we learned about Kaya's Tribe, the Nez Perce.  I used to live close to where her tribe might have lived in Idaho.  In math I am getting really good at counting money and I am also getting really fast at my addition math facts.  My mom says after I get good at my subtraction facts I can start multiplication.  I can't wait!

Week 10 Contact

We got to go to an old car museum.   There were some really neat things there.  Look at how much gas cost.

Some of the cars were really old.  I think this one was from 1924. 

This one was kind of funny.  They put skies on this car so that they could deliver mail to people in the mountains.  My mom also told me that some of the REALLY old cars were called horseless carriages, because they didn't need to use a horse.

We started learning about Native Americans this week.  This is me doing my vocabulary words.

We talked about the Inuit tribe.  I don't think I would have liked to be in that tribe.  It would have been to cold.

I also started reading Kaya from American Girls.  I  LOVE American Girls.  This is the timeline I did of History with the American Girls.  I can't wait to read the rest of the books.

Yummy experiment

What a yummy experiment with the candy! I guess this is a good time of year to find candy to experiment on. Can you think of anything else you could have used besides baking soda?
I bet you learned the Aztecs had a pretty amazing civilizations. Not everything about it was good, but it was very advanced.

Week 9 Contact

This week I finished our book of Ancient Civilizations.  Our last one we talked about was the Ancient Aztecs.

We did a science experiment with some of our halloween candy.  We tested lemon heads, sweettarts, and smarties to see which one had a bigger reaction.

We put a little baking soda into each glass with the candy.

The sweet tarts had the biggest reaction, but the lemonheads fizzed the longest, just not very big.  The smarties didn't do much at all.

Then I wrote down in my science journal what happened.  I think the sweet tarts were the most acidic and thats why it reacted the most.

Week 8 Contact

I don't have any pictures this week, but I still did school.  I learned a lot about ancient china and made paper lanterns.  They make these to celebrate the Chinese new year.  I also did math and painted pumpkins for halloween.  Hopefully I can put some pictures up later!
