Does your dad ever tell you to turn the lights off when you're not in a room? I bet back in the old days parents would tell kids to blow their candles out when they weren't needed! If the candles take a long time to make, people wouldn't want to waste all that work unless they really needed a little bit of light.
I think dividing a square pan of brownies into eighths would really help you remember your math lesson!

Week 16 Contact
This is me doing my math. I learned how to divide a square into eighths. I also practiced my adding and subtracting.
I finished reading Felicity: An American Girl. We learned how to make candles. When we melted the wax it smelled like honey. It took a long time to make a one candle. I learned that during Felicity's time in 1778 they would only make candles once or twice a year because it took so long.
This is my candle. It was fun lighting it. We got to blow it out like a birthday candle, but it wasn't my birthday. :)

Sick :-(
I'm really sorry to hear you've been sick. I hope you weren't sick for Christmas or New Year's.
It's good to hear you're still able to do some school, but make sure you get lots of rest too!

Week 15 Contact
This is Hailey's mom! Hailey is sick today so I am filling this out for her today. We are kind of getting back into the swing of things after getting back from christmas break, but she has continued to work on her math and is reading a new american girl book, Felicity. We are waiting for a new history unit and writing as well.

Merry Christmas!
I bet Grandma, Grandpa, Oma and Opa are really going to like their gifts! It's always so special when one of their favorite grandchildren helps make presents for them!
Santa won't be too confused with those four letters. He's probably used to people changing their minds!
I hope you have the best Christmas you've ever had!

Week 14 Contact
I can't post to much about school this week cause we worked on Christmas presents for my grandma and grandpa and oma and opa. All I can say is that I helped measure and cut and some other things. If I say any more they might read this and find out what they are getting. Its a secret!!! I also wrote a letter to Santa. I think this is the fourth letter I have written him. I keep changing my mind. Have a Happy Christmas Mr. Brooks and anyone else who reads this!
Yummy House
It looks like you have a regular gingerbread town there! Did you do all those?
The Children's Museum looks like a lot of fun! Have you heard that they are trying to figure out a way to use wave at the ocean for creating electricity? They might use some of the things you were experimenting with on that water table.
Whose your little snowman friend?
Merry Christmas!
